The Laundrie family’s attorney says items belonging to Brian Laundrie were found off of a trail in Florida as the search for him continues
Items belonging to Brian Laundrie, the fiance of the late Gabby Petito, were found near a Florida trail that he frequently traveled, CNN reports.
Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino said investigators found “some articles” of Laundrie off the trail of the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, which is near the Laundrie family home in North Port, Florida.
Laundrie’s parents, Chris and Roberta Laundrie, told both the FBI and the North Port Police Department that they would visit the park on Wednesday.
- According to Bertolino, the family met with law enforcement there on Wednesday.
- The family found “some articles” after a “brief search” at the park.
- Law enforcement plans to conduct a bigger search in the area.
Laundrie is wanted as a person of interest in the case of Petito, who went missing in September and was later found dead in Wyoming. Petito and Laundrie went on a cross-country road trip this summer.
- But only Laundrie returned home to North Port, Florida, on Sept. 1, driving Petito’s van. On Sept. 11, Petito’s family reported her missing. She was found on Sunday, Sept. 19, having died by strangulation.
- Laundrie’s whereabouts remain unknown. Police have focused their search in the 25,000-acre Carlton Reserve in Florida.
