Utah lawmakers ignored the will of the people

We all know the intent of the people was to take redistricting out of the hands of the Republican Legislature

I can’t wrap my head around the way this state fights any federal demands, saying no one can tell us what to do, and then our legislators turn around and tell the citizens of Utah what we will do. They even made it harder for the people to create initiatives, and we still passed four propositions in 2018, in spite of great odds, and by large numbers. The Legislature has screwed up all four of them.

We all know the intent of the people is to take redistricting out of the hands of the Republican Legislature. Their arrogance in ignoring the will of the people is far more egregious than any play the feds have made on Utah. For Gov. Spencer Cox to support them, instead of standing up for your constituents is unforgivable.

I used open source software myself to redraw the districts and met all the requirements without dividing Salt Lake City (which we all know was to dilute the liberals of the county and disenfranchise us). Just that one division violates the spirit of the law, if not the actual letter of the law.
