Two students were taken into custody Monday after police learned of a potential threat of violence at West High School in Salt Lake City.
About 10 a.m., school resource officers and West High administrators began investigating the threat, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Mark Wian.
Classes continued while the school went into lockdown, said Salt Lake City School District spokeswoman Yandary Zavala Chatwin.
Wian said he could not confirm whether the threat was related to guns. He also did not disclose the ages of the students who were detained.
The other students at the school are safe, Wian said.
Additional information was not available as the investigation remains ongoing, according to Wian.
