Las Vegas Raiders player Henry Ruggs III was involved in a crash that killed one woman, reports say
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III will face felony charges of a DUI resulting in death after a fiery fatal crash left one person dead Tuesday morning, KLAS reports.
- Ruggs drove a Chevrolet Corvette, which crashed into a Toyota Rav4, police told KLAS.
The crash happened at 3:39 a.m. Tuesday morning in Las Vegas. Reports suggested Ruggs’ car rear-ended the Toyota, killing one person inside.
- The Toyota caught fire and the driver, a woman, died, according to The Associated Press.
- Another passenger in the car, a woman, was also injured in the accident.
- “Ruggs remained on the scene and showed signs of impairment,” per KLAS.
- Ruggs will be charged with a felony DUI resulting in death, police said Tuesday.
A charge of DUI causing death can result in two to 20 years in state person, per The Associated Press. Probation is not an option.
Ruggs’ attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, said they will investigate the crash “and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered,” according to the AP.
The Las Vegas Raiders released a statement about the crash and Ruggs, a second-year wide receiver.
- “We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family,” the team said. “We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”

Ruggs was taken 12th in the 2020 NFL draft. He played for Alabama, where he won a national championship in 2017.
