Children in need and people experiencing homelessness in the Salt Lake City area will stay warm this winter thanks to the Knights of Columbus.
According to Bob Masse Jr., the Utah state Coats for Kids chairman for the Knights of Columbus, the Knights raised $55,000 this year to distribute 3,000 coats, plus hats and gloves, throughout Utah this fall.
On Saturday, they started handing out coats to people experiencing homelessness at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall, and followed that up with an event focused on children in need at the former Guadalupe School on the northwest side of Salt Lake City.
